Pet Friendly Cabins at Flaming Gorge
A lake to walk around and a porch to sleep on
Most of our cabins are pet friendly, and this is a very good place to be a dog. You are in Ashley National Forest with a private lake, a lakeside trail and hundreds of miles of forest road, rather than in a hotel room with a patch of grass by the parking lot.
Every cabin has a covered front porch, a picnic table and an outdoor fire pit, so the evening happens outside where your dog would rather be anyway. We take extra cleaning care after every pet stay so the next family walks into a spotless cabin, which is why there is a fee.

Which cabin to book
Alpine cabins are standalone units, which tends to suit a dog that reacts to footsteps next door. Ponderosa units have the most room and their own kitchenette. Uinta cabins are the family pick with a loft and a full kitchen. Compare all three
Walk the lake
The Blue Diamond Trail circles East Green’s Lake and starts a few steps from the cabins. Flat, shaded and short — the ideal first-thing-in-the-morning loop, and the sunrises over the water are worth the early alarm.
Hike the rim
The Canyon Rim Trail runs 4.5 miles one way to the Red Canyon Visitor Center along the edge of the canyon, with reservoir views most of the way. Hiking trails
Bringing Your Dog
Sit by the fire
Each cabin has its own fire ring with a flip-down grill and we bring firewood daily. Fires must be attended and fully out before bed — this is a forest, and we are all careful about it.
A note on the water
The lake is catch-and-release fishing with artificial flies and lures, and there are pedal boats, canoes and kayaks at the dock. Keep an eye on your dog around the boats and the dock edge.
House rules for everyone
Quiet hours are 10:00 pm to 7:00 am and sound carries a remarkable distance out here, which includes barking. Tents are not permitted; all guests stay inside the cabins. Read the full FAQs
The setting
at Red Canyon Lodge
Pets are welcome in our cabins with the exception of Ponderosa units G and H. Owners are responsible for any damage. Check-in is 4:00 pm, check-out 11:00 am, and all cabins are non-smoking.
Our Pet Policy, Plainly

The fee
$25 per pet, per day. It covers the extra cleaning we do after every pet stay so the next guests walk into a spotless cabin.

Never unattended
Please do not leave pets alone in a cabin. A dog by itself in an unfamiliar room is a stressed dog, and the neighbours hear it.

Off the furniture
Keep pets off the furniture and the bedding. There is an additional $25 charge if we find pet hair on either.

Leash law
Ashley National Forest has a leash law and it applies across the property. There is plenty of trail, and plenty of wildlife that would rather not meet an off-leash dog.

Clean up
Please pick up after your pet, on the trails and around the cabins. Everyone walks this ground barefoot at some point in the summer.
